Keeping your back flexible and strong are the best ways to prevent low back pain. A strong back could be attained with regular stretching and exercise along with proper posture. For people with recurrent low back pain, we do recommend the use of flat shoes with cushioned soles because they decrease the pressure on the back when walking on artificial surfaces.

Avoiding sudden movements like twisting and bending are also helpful in preventing muscle strain. Those with a higher Body Mass Index are also advised to lose weight since a heavier upper body can put undue strain on your lower back. Maintaining the correct posture is also important in preventing low back pain. We do a thorough postural assessment including bilateral weight scales to guide you on changes you may require. Be mindful on how you sit, stand, carry, bend, and lie down because all of these affect yourspine and nerve system.

As mentioned previously stretching and exercise helps in the treatment and prevention of low back pain. However, exercise should be done with your Chiropractors supervision to prevent further injury.
