Certified Raw 100% Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
Product of Papua New Guinea
Wild harvested, processed and hand packed on site by the Tolai communities of Gunanur, Napapar and Vungogo villages on the island of New Britain, PNG – the last untouched wilderness. Niugini coconut oil contributes to a sustainable balance between productive independent farmers and thriving wild ecosystems.
What are the benefits?
The most important short chain molecule in coconut oil is Lauric acid, which is a major constituent of coconut oil and also, interestingly enough of mothers milk. Just as breast milk enhances a newborn’s immune system, so Lauric Acid derived from coconut oil has the power to enhance the adult immune system, as well as:
- Help with diseases caused by inflammation such as arthritis
- Protect the liver
- Have a positive effect on Type 2 Diabetes
Monolaurin, which is created from Lauric Acid inside the human body, is antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-protozoa (parasites). Studies have shown it to be effective in destroying:
- Viruses such as HIV, herpes, cytomegalovirus, influenza
- Pathogenic bacteria, including listeria, monocytogenes, and helicobacter pylori
- Protozoa such as giardia lamblia.
- Fungal infections such as Candida albicans
There is also evidence that coconut oil helps prevent osteoporosis by improving absorption of minerals such as calcium. Studies are now being done to test it effectiveness against serious illness such as AIDS and SARS. Preliminary results have been very promising!
Guaranteed Weight Loss!
Research is mounting, by simply substituting polyunsaturated vegetable oils and margarines with coconut oil…and doing nothing else…you can lose significant amounts of weight! It will fill you up so that you don’t crave foods that will put on the pounds, and it is easily converted to energy instead of settling on your waist, hips and thighs.
Better management of Type 2 Diabetes
Reliable scientific evidence indicates that organic, cold pressed coconut oil stimulates the metabolism and encourages the production of insulin, reduces free radicals that inhibit its absorption into the cells, and is not deposited in the blood vessels as cholesterol. Put simply, coconut oil is seriously beneficial for people who have diabetes.
Heart friendly and low cholesterol
There is a scientific reason why organic coconut oil is less likely to deposit cholesterol in your blood vessels and fat around your waist and buttocks than conventional “healthy” polyunsaturated vegetable oils and margarines. It is because coconut oil has a different molecular structure and, as a result, it is not absorbed into your body the same way.
How do you tell a premium quality coconut oil from the rest?
Coconut oil naturally changes state from liquid oil to solid mass depending on its temperature.
The purity/quality of any coconut oil can be judged by a simple visual test. Coconut oil, in its liquid state should be crystal clear (above approx’ 25C/?? F) and should be pure white in its solid form. (below approx’ 18C/ ??F)
If liquid oil is preferred for a specific use (e.g. blending in a smoothie or salad dressing), simply heat in a bowl within a bowl of hot tap water – it will melt quickly.
Because Virgin Coconut Oil is high in natural anti-oxidants, it is not necessary to refrigerate it. Simply keep it in the pantry cupboard exactly as you would other cooking oils. It will remain fresh for a year or more.
It is easy to use – just scoop as much as you need out of the jar on a knife blade or in a measuring spoon. Because it is soft and creamy, it creams easily into flour for baking and quickly melts in the pan to liquid oil for frying.
